RiverLights: One of the Top 50 Spots to Retire
We are humbled and proud to have been named one of the top 50 places to retire by Where to Retire magazine. While Wilmington has become a popular place to spend your golden years, it is an active, young, vibrant city that draws people from all over the country to place their next set of roots, regardless of their age.
We often meet folks who are traveling up and down the East Coast, searching for their forever home. Our favorite moment is watching them realize they’ve found their spot. RiverLights is it. And why wouldn’t it be? Set along a 3-mile stretch of the gorgeous Cape Fear River, RiverLights is anything but ordinary. For those looking for an active lifestyle, we’ve got you covered without having to leave the neighborhood. Go for a run around the Lake Loop, a 3.2-mile trail around that weaves through the community around the edge of the RiverLights Lake. A network of trails combine to create over 8 miles of pathways for exploration. Throw your paddleboard or kayak in the lake at Boat Builder Park with our easy-to-use launch. If you’re in the mood for a bit more adventure, you can access the shore of the Cape Fear River from our crabbing and fishing pier and launch your watercrafts from the sand. Make sure you bring your tackle box and gear so you can catch a flounder or some crabs for dinner! The Lakehouse amenity center houses a refreshing salt water pool with zero-gravity entry, yoga studio, fitness center, billiard room and a large clubhouse, perfect for hanging out with all your new friends! Parks scattered throughout the community offer “mini amenities” such as volleyball nets, bocce lanes, benches for relaxing and cornhole boards.
Trying to hangout in a more relaxed fashion? We’ve got you covered there too! Enjoy breakfast and coffee with friends at Magnolia Social Café in Marina Village before a round of virtual golf or zombie dodgeball at Club Golf Indoor, our full-swing simulator bar. Does it feel like 5 o’clock? Enjoy an after work glass of wine, craft beer or cocktail at Southern Shores before grabbing dinner and watching the sunset over the Cape Fear River at Smoke on the Water. As RiverLights grows, so will our town center, Marina Village. Our second commercial building will be open later this year and we look forward to welcoming a bike repair and rental shop, a pizza joint, art gallery and more!
