Discovery Series — History of the Bellamy Mansion and Downtown Wilmington
Wilmington has long been recognized for its history with early exploration occurring 200 years before its incorporation in 1739. As a center for trade in the region, Wilmington was also a hub for politics and culture and became the largest city in North Carolina by 1850. During this Ante-Bellum period, some of the city’s most impressive structures were built including the Bellamy Mansion.
Our second presentation in our Fall Discovery Series will focus on the history of the Bellamy Mansion and Downtown Wilmington — both of which are some of Wilmington’s most popular destinations. Gareth Evans, Director of the Bellamy Mansion Museum, will lead this historical session that will take us back in time over 150 years.
We look forward to seeing you as we learn more about our very own Wilmington during our Discovery Series at RiverLights. Don’t forget to RSVP on our Facebook page!
